Job Description

Job Summary:

Required from September 2026, or earlier if possible, a 1.0 FTE Education Adviser to work across the borough with both primary and secondary schools.

Sandwell School Improvement Service is a high performing team with a reputation of excellence across the local region. The team works closely with headteachers, school governors, Local Authority teams and external agencies, such as the Department for Education and OFSTED, to ensure the best possible standards of education for Sandwell children.

The successful applicant will need to have recent and relevant leadership experience in a nursery, primary or secondary school or academy. Experience of working across phases would be welcomed.

The post-holder will work collaboratively with colleagues to build upon the strong practice already established within schools and across the local authority, strengthening continuity in teaching and learning between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. They will support the development of effective, well-structured programmes that ensure curriculum progression, shared pedagogical approaches, and consistent expectations for pupils as they move through phases of education. The role will involve fostering professional collaboration across schools to share expertise, develop high-quality practice, and support improved pupil outcomes. Experience of establishing and leading professional learning networks across a range of schools would be highly advantageous.
