Prospero Teaching is seeking a skilled, patient and trauma-informed tutor to work 1:1 with a Year 7 student who requires a gentle, relationship-based re-engagement with education. This role is ideal for someone experienced in supporting young people with anxiety and SEMH needs.

About the RoleThe tutor will deliver home-based sessions focused on building trust, emotional safety and confidence before gradually reintroducing academic work. The aim is to help the student re-engage with learning at a pace that feels manageable and, in time, support a gradual return to education.

Key Responsibilities- Deliver supportive, structured 1:1 sessions in the student's home- Build a consistent, trusting relationship to reduce anxiety and increase engagement- Use a child-led, low-pressure approach to rebuild confidence- Introduce English and Maths gradually when the student shows readiness- Apply trauma-informed strategies to support emotional regulation- Adapt teaching methods to suit the student's pace and learning profile- Complete weekly progress reports to track academic and emotional development

Essential Requirements- At least 6 months experience within Uk education setting - Strong SEMH experience- Understanding of anxiety, school avoidance and re-engagement strategies- Calm, patient and nurturing approach- Ability to create a safe, predictable learning environment- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)- Reliable, professional and committed to supporting long-term progress
