Job Description
Edgbaston HC: Men's Performance Squads Head Coach

Edgbaston Hockey Club associated with the University of Birmingham is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and motivated coach to lead our performance team squads and drive success both on and off the pitch. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate coach to work within an ambitious hockey programme, developing performance standards, fostering player progression, and creating a positive, competitive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver high-quality coaching sessions for the 1st and 2nd teams
  • Plan matchday strategy, team selection, and conduct performance analysis
  • Develop players' technical and tactical performance
  • Work collaboratively with wider coaching team and install a philosophy throughout the club
  • Support talent identification and player development pathways
  • Attend fixtures (preferable), training sessions, and relevant hockey events
The successful candidate will ideally have
  • Previous experience coaching senior or performance-level teams
  • Relevant coaching qualifications (England Hockey Level 2 or equivalent preferred)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of modern hockey tactics and performance development
  • Availability for Tuesday evenings training and weekend fixtures (preferred)
