About the Role

The Orchards is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Teacher to join their supportive team in an SEN setting based in the M32 area of Manchester. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact supporting young learners with additional needs at the very start of their educational journey.

The successful candidate will have experience or a strong interest in working within Special Educational Needs (SEN) and will be confident adapting teaching approaches to meet a wide range of needs.

The Needs of the School

The Orchards is looking for a teacher who:

  • Has a nurturing, patient and adaptable approach

  • Can confidently deliver the EYFS curriculum within an SEN setting

  • Is experienced in supporting children with ASD, speech and language needs, and developmental delays

  • Can create engaging, sensory-based and differentiated learning experiences

  • Works effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (TAs, SENCO, therapists, parents)

  • Is proactive in managing behaviour using positive behaviour strategies

  • Understands EHCPs and can contribute to reviews and progress tracking

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver creative, inclusive Early Years lessons tailored to individual needs

  • Assess and track pupil progress in line with EYFS and individual learning plans

  • Provide a safe, structured and stimulating classroom environment

  • Support social, emotional and communication development

  • Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals

  • Maintain accurate records and reports

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching within Early Years (Nursery/Reception)

  • Previous SEN experience is highly desirable

  • Strong behaviour management skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)

Desirable
  • Experience working in a specialist provision or SEN school

  • Knowledge of PECS, Makaton or other communication strategies

  • Safeguarding training

  • Team Teach or positive handling training
