Job Description

A welcoming and nurturing primary school in Gateshead is looking for a passionate Early Years Teacher to join their team and support pupils in the early stages of their education.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work in a school that values creativity, play-based learning, and helping young pupils build confidence as they begin their learning journey.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm, term time only, within an engaging Early Years setting.

The Role

As an Early Years Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting children as they begin to develop the skills and confidence needed for their future education.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Planning and delivering creative and engaging EYFS learning activities
  • Supporting pupils' early literacy and numeracy development
  • Encouraging curiosity through play-based learning and exploration
  • Observing and monitoring pupil progress and development
  • Creating a warm, safe, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Working closely with teaching assistants and early years staff

The school is looking for a teacher who can bring enthusiasm, patience, and creativity into the classroom.

A Supportive Early Years Setting

The Early Years team within the school works closely together to create a positive and engaging learning environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited about learning.

Staff collaborate regularly to plan activities, share ideas, and ensure pupils receive the best possible start to their education.

The leadership team places strong emphasis on supporting staff wellbeing and professional development.

Career Development Opportunities

Many teachers who begin working within Early Years settings develop specialist skills and go on to progress into lead roles within EYFS or wider primary education.

Schools also frequently recruit teachers permanently once they have built strong relationships within the team.
