Early Years Practitioner apprentice

TAMBA DAY NURSERY LTD

Summary

Training to work in all areas of the nursery with different age groups of children. Gaining a full understanding of the EYFS, to plan activities and to record the children's development as they move through the nursery. Work and interact directly with children on a day-to-day basis, supporting the planning of and delivery of activities.

Annual wage

£15,704 a year

The pay may be negotiated and may rise after a probation period has been successfully completed.

Monday - Friday. Shifts may be 8.00am - 5.00pm or 9.00am - 6.00pm.

Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

The ideal candidate will be flexible, hardworking and willing to learn, with great communication skills, and the ability to work as part of the team as well as using your initiative.

Your role will include
  • Being a key worker for individual children
  • Planning activities according to the EYFS
  • Being responsible for caring for babies and children
  • Working with the nursery manager, parents and other team members
Duties include
  • Preparing snacks for the children
  • To attend to their personal care needs throughout the day, ensuring that the child is always respected and safe
  • Feeding the children and attending to their sleep and rest needs throughout the day
  • Helping with supervising children during activities and play
  • Helping with setting up equipment and areas for activities, making sure everything is safe and suitable for the children
  • Being responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for the children, staff and parents alongside other staff
  • Reporting to the room leader and managers of the nursery

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Other requirements

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE COLLEGE WORKSHOPS ARE HELD AT SOUTH WOODFORD AND YOU MUST BE PREPARED TO TRAVEL. According to your shift pattern you may have early starts or late finishes. You will be answerable to your manager or room leader. You must attend all college workshops as required and complete your portfolio of evidence in the timeframe allowed for your qualification.

  • To gain the level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification and progress to the level 3 Early Years Educator qualification.
