Job Description
Geospatial Technical Officer

Trinity College Dublin is Ireland's leading university, founded in 1592, and ranked 75th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2026). The School of Natural Sciences is actively engaged in Applied Earth Observation, GIS and geomorphology, supporting both teaching and research in terrestrial and non terrestrial environments.

We are seeking an E3 Geospatial Technical Officer to strengthen the School's teaching and research activities and to support interdisciplinary collaboration across the School of Natural Sciences and the neighbouring E3 Schools (Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering) as well as the Centre for the Environment.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work in a busy office setting, engaging daily with undergraduate and postgraduate students and faculty. Key duties include providing geospatial support for research projects, contributing to course design and delivery, collaborating with internal and external partners, and actively participating in college, school, and discipline level activities. Strong interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude, and meticulous attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Entry to the profession requires a relevant Honours degree. • Preferred candidate will hold an MSc and possess a minimum of 3 years' experience that is relevant to the role, which may be appointed at Senior Technical Officer level.

Employment Details

Post Status: Permanent

Hours of Post: 36.5 hours per week

Salary: Appointment will be on the Technical Officer Pay Scale at a point in line with Government Pay Policy - €40,743 to €61,557 per annum. New entrants will be appointed at point 1 (€40,743 per annum). The candidate must hold immigration permission that permits full time employment in the role.
