The position of Dublin City Planning Officer is pivotal in the City Council and the holder of the post will play a vital role in the orderly development of the City. Reporting to the Chief Executive, or such person as may be designated from time to time, the Dublin City Planning Officer will form part of the Department's Senior Management Team. They will lead and manage a team of professionals and will have specific delegatory responsibilities and functions.

Main Duties of the JobAdvising the City Council on all land use planning issues.
Acting as a spokesperson for the City Council on land use planning issues and leading the Council's contribution to public debate on these issues.
Providing leadership to the professional planning staff in the City Council including having oversight of the career / professional development of planners, the provision for training for planners etc.
Providing management and leadership in the implementation of departmental and corporate work programmes.
Working cooperatively with other City Council Departments and agencies to produce collaborative solutions and resolve intra-organisational challenges.

An opportunity now exists in Dublin City Council for the position of Dublin City Planning Officer.
Salary Scale effective from 1st February 2026:
€113,476; €117,090; €120,707; €124,330 (Maximum); €128,508 1st LSI (after 3 years satisfactory service on the Maximum), €132,689 2nd LSI 2 (after 3 years satisfactory service on 1st LSI).
Hours of attendance will be fixed from time to time but will amount to not less than 35 hours gross per week.
The annual leave allowance for the position of Dublin City Planning Officer is 30 days.
