DSD Supervisor

The post holder will be a key member of the Sterile Services management team within the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The department provides sterile services to the five hospitals that comprise the Trust and other external hospitals and clinics. The decontamination of medical devices is a critical service for the delivery of patient care.

The Supervisor is responsible for the smooth running of the Decontamination Services Department, ensuring efficiency, productivity and cost effectiveness while maintaining the confidence of users. The post holder will coordinate staff, prioritise and manage day to day activities across the whole department for their shift, and deputise for the Production Managers when necessary.

Responsibilities

The main duties of the role include:

  • Ensuring the service is delivered efficiently and in accordance with department policies, procedures and the Quality Management System.
  • Contributing fully to the team's compliance with ISO 13485:2016 and UK MDR 2002.
  • Managing the processing of approximately 35,000 instruments or instrument sets each month.
  • Operating on various shift patterns to cover the majority of the 24 hour, 7 day cycle of the department.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Good standard of formal education.
  • GCSE qualifications in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • TVQ or NVQ Level 3 qualification in decontamination or a City and Guilds decontamination accredited qualification, or current equivalent.
  • Attainment of E learning National Decontamination Training Programme.
Knowledge, Training & Experience
  • At least one year of previous decontamination services experience.
  • Experience operating modern machinery in a production environment.
  • Good IT skills and ability to use a database tracking system.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Good working knowledge of equipment and instrument types processed through a Sterile Services Department.

Salary: £27,485 - £30,162 per annum (pro rata)
