Job Description

As we expand our business, we are seeking highly qualified Drilling Analysts to join our talented team in Aberdeen and play a key role in the global deployment of our advanced drilling solutions.

The ideal candidates are professional, proactive and flexible individuals with relevant Oil & Gas drilling domain experience who have high interest and understanding of IT and software. Relevant candidates will have a (Bachelors or higher) Degree in Engineering or Geoscience. The candidates' experience will be applied primarily to onshore and offshore drilling operations from Sekal's 24/7 Operations Center in Aberdeen. They will prepare, maintain and deploy our modelling and IT systems and applications, and will be required to generate and present high quality technical reports to our clients. As a Drilling Analyst you will provide real time monitoring and diagnostics, prepare drilling optimisation reports and be involved in the operation of applied closed loop drilling automation systems to offshore vendors. Sekal specialises in the reduction of non productive time for our clients through the use our modelling, systems and technology. You will be working in an innovative and diversified working environment, with possibilities to develop your career in Sekal. The position is part of Sekal's 24/7 rotation scheme. Occasional work abroad may be required as part of the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, deploy and maintain Sekal's drilling automation solutions, tailored to individual project requirements and customer deliverables.
  • Monitor "live" drilling & completion activities, providing real time analysis, diagnostics and identifying performance opportunities utilising Sekal modelling applications and automation platform.
  • Operational delivery of Sekal's closed loop drilling automation system - DrillTronics, acting as a key focal point for end users and rig site teams.
  • Produce high quality analysis and modelling reports on various well construction focus areas including hydraulics, torque and drag, tripping, hole cleaning and more.
  • Deliver concise daily technical reports summarising well specific scopes, service delivery metrics and value added use cases.
  • Pro active engagement in internal / external operational meetings outlining planning / execution strategy and post review phases towards operational deliveries on a section by section basis.
  • Produce detailed activity / event logs, ensuring system QA/QC routines are implemented maintained on a regular basis.
  • Monitoring and tracking of statistical performance metrics, utilisation rates and data analytics to support end of well / after action review delivery.
  • Maintain and update project specific communications procedures.
Education and Qualification
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Geoscience, or a related technical discipline.
  • Industry Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience within the Exploration & Production (E&P) industry, ideally gained through roles in oil companies, service providers, or software/technology companies supporting drilling operations.
  • Drilling Operations: Practical experience in drilling or well operations is essential-preferably with hands on rig exposure in roles such as Data Engineer, MWD/LWD Engineer, or other similar drilling related functions.
  • Software/IT ability: High proficiency in general computing is preferred. Good working knowledge of data acquisition systems. Use of drilling optimisation systems is preferable.
  • Certificates: Offshore certificates will be required but can be provided.
Competencies and Personal Skills
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of the drilling / well construction process and automation solutions.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel, onshore/offshore, both domestic and abroad.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Proactive and motivated self starter who takes ownership of responsibilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team with excellent collaboration skills.
  • Result oriented with the ability to take and implement required actions.
  • Knowledge of drilling optimisation software or similar tools.
