Permanent - Core Shift - 8 AM to 4 PM

What you'll be doing

In a retail world that's evolving faster than ever, automation isn't just a buzzword-it's a game changer. As our DPS (Dynamic Picking System Departmental Manager), you'll be at the forefront of leading a large team day to day, ensuring that customer service is always at the forefront of mind while maintaining consistent levels of operational efficiency and performance across all your areas of remit.

This role is all about driving smarter, more efficient ways of working through automation, reducing waste activity and developing broad teams while creating and maintaining a "can do" culture in our organization.

You will be responsible for our state of the art outbound automated pick by light and pick, pack and dispatch operation, leading a large team of colleagues via 18 direct reports who are working across 2 shifts.

Managing both Boots and agency colleague performance, absence and accuracy.

You will also be required to own and lead multiple projects as part of your role with a constant mindset on continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities
  • To lead a team focused on maximising shelf availability & delivering the highest service level possible to stores, and on accurate receiving, picking & dispatching of stock.
  • Manage staff performance and achieve throughput targets in their functional area.
  • Control & manage budgets.
  • Ensure team members receive performance reviews.
  • Make short term tactical decisions in the operation to overcome any obstacles that may affect service to stores or product availability.
  • Link up with other Department Managers during the working day to ensure effective management of the warehouse.
  • Maintain a handover from the off going shift, prepare and deliver pre shift briefings, coordinate activity and maintain a positive working relationship with the wider management team.
  • Implement short and medium operational plans within the warehouse.
  • Lead the Health & Safety and Shrink agenda within your team & operating area.
  • Create a positive culture through effective communication, recognition and support, and ensure partnership processes are supported & visible to the team.
What you'll need to have (our must haves)

  • Strong people leader with high standards.
  • Experience managing and motivating a large operational team, including planning & organising, exposure to cost control and budget management.
  • Experience working & knowledge of Supply Chain, warehouse processes and flows.
  • Effective cross functional working & strong communication skills at all levels.
  • Support Team Leaders in developing themselves & their teams & managing performance issues that are fundamental to a successful operation.
  • The ability to interpret high level data, forward thinking, drive & motivate teams to achieve results & help create a culture they are proud to work in.
It would be great if you also have
  • Good level of automation experience would be ideal.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications / Power BI etc.
  • Ability to create high performing teams and succession for the future.
