An exciting opportunity has become available for a patient-focused Optical Assistant to join a market leading domiciliary practice in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Optical Assistant seeking a long-term role within a hugely rewarding side of the optical industry. You're not simply helping someone choose a pair of glasses - you're bringing eye care directly to people who may otherwise struggle to access it.

With flexible working arrangements, no day is ever the same. A varied role where you're not stuck behind the same practice desk every day. Travelling to different locations and making a real difference to patients' lives, this could be an excellent next step in your career. This role offers the chance to practice optics in one of its purest forms.

The Role

Ideally, you will be based around Northwest London ie. Wembley, Colindale . The role will involve travelling to different locations, with the furthest point of travel being approximately Kingston.

You'll spend your days visiting patients in a variety of settings, including care homes, residential settings and patients' own homes, supporting the wider domiciliary team to deliver an excellent level of patient care.

What does a Domiciliary Optical Assistant do?

No two days are quite the same. Your responsibilities could include:

• Travelling with the domiciliary team to different patient locations across London.
• Assisting the Optometrist during eye examinations and patient visits.
• Helping patients select suitable frames based on their prescription, lifestyle and individual needs.
• Taking measurements and ensuring accurate frame and lens selections.
• Helping patients try on and adjust frames comfortably.
• Providing advice and reassurance to patients, many of whom may have additional needs or mobility difficulties.
• Supporting the dispensing process and ensuring patients receive the right eyewear for their needs.
• Carrying out frame adjustments and minor repairs where required.
• Helping with the organisation and preparation of equipment and stock before clinics.
• Maintaining accurate patient records and completing relevant paperwork.
• Liaising with care-home staff, family members and other members of the domiciliary team.
• Providing excellent aftercare and ensuring patients are happy and comfortable with their eyewear.
• Ensuring the mobile clinic environment is organised, professional and welcoming.

The patients you'll see can range from independent individuals to those who may be elderly, vulnerable or have complex needs. A friendly, patient and compassionate approach is therefore just as important as your optical knowledge.

About You

We're looking for an Optical Assistant who:

• Has previous experience working as an Optical Assistant.
• Is confident dealing with patients face-to-face.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is organised and able to work independently while being part of a wider team.
• Has a genuine passion for providing outstanding patient care.
• Is comfortable travelling between different locations.
• Ideally has experience within domiciliary optics, although high-street experience will also be considered.
• Has a full UK driving licence and is comfortable with regular travel.

• Salary up to £30,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
