Domestic Assistant (Evenings)

Our Domestic Assistants are responsible for contributing to the provision of a clean, safe and comfortable environment for our patients, staff and visitors and we are looking to expand our team.
We are looking for staff to work the following shifts: 22.5 hours per week - 3.30pm - 8pm
Whilst it would be helpful if you had experience of cleaning within a domestic or commercial environment, full induction and ongoing training will be provided. There is also the opportunity for further training and development.

This post involves frequent manual handling duties (including lifting, pushing, bending, twisting etc) therefore it is very important that you read the job description for this post before you apply.
Main duties of the job- Clean/dry mop floors, spot clean floors and remove spillages.
- High and low dusting
- Damp dusting furniture, fixtures, fittings and ledges.
- High frequency touchpoint cleans
- Spot clean internal glass as necessary.
- Clean Telephones
- Clean wash hand basins, sinks, showers, WC's and fittings. Replenish supplies
- Clean and refill soap dispensers and paper towel holders.
- Collect and dispose of rubbish, clean bins
- Assist with the serving of patient meals and making of patient drinks.
- Routine curtain changes
- Clean domestic equipment and storage areas
- Use polishing/scrubbing machines for maintenance of hard floors
- Use extraction machine for carpet/upholstery cleaning
- Use steam cleaners as required
- Educated to Level 1 or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of National Standard of Cleanliness
- Awareness of NHS Colour Coding procedure
- Good knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures
- COSHH and Health and Safety legislation knowledge.
- Awareness of PLACE Inspections
- Previous NHS cleaning experience
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal).
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work within tight deadlines
- Displays an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
- Able to use cleaning tools and assemble/dismantle cleaning equipment
- Able to bend, stretch and lift items and push/move equipment and furniture ensuring correct manual handling techniques are followed.
- Basic understanding of using a computer and programs such as Word, Excel & Outlook
- Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Able to work without supervision
- Able to work in a demanding environment.

- Able to work in a hospital ward environment.
- Presentable, polite with a friendly manner.
