Domestic Assistant

We are currently recruiting a full time Domestic Assistant to maintain a clean, hygienic, and welcoming environment for residents, staff and visitors in accordance with infection control and health & safety standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean resident bedrooms, communal areas, bathrooms, corridors and offices to a high standard.
• Undertake daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules as directed.
• Dispose of waste in line with care home policy and infection control guidelines.
• Use appropriate cleaning equipment and materials safely and effectively.
• Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, including COSHH regulations.
• Report any faults, hazards or maintenance issues promptly.
• Ensure proper storage and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Follow infection prevention protocols including hand hygiene, PPE usage and deep cleaning as required.
• Assist in implementing enhanced cleaning during outbreaks (e.g., flu, norovirus, COVID 19).
• Be respectful and courteous to residents, ensuring privacy and dignity are upheld.
• Report any concerns regarding residents' wellbeing to a senior staff member.
• Attend mandatory training and staff meetings as required.

Enhanced Access NI check is required. We have an open policy on recruiting ex offenders and a secure handling policy for Access NI information. Both policies are available from our HR Team.

Required criteria

• Right to live and work in the UK
• Experience in cleaning or domestic work
• Understanding of cleaning and hygiene standards
• Satisfactory Enhanced Access NI Check

Desired criteria

• Relevant knowledge of COSHH
• Experience in a care home or healthcare setting
• Basic hygiene or cleaning certificate
