The RoleDigital Sensitivity Reviewers play a vital role in safeguarding sensitive government information by exercising sound judgement to make critical decisions on the release and preservation of records. Working within the framework of relevant legislation, reviewers assess complex and diverse materials to identify sensitive content that requires redaction or restricted access. This role demands exceptional attention to detail, efficiency, and a commitment to upholding national security and the integrity of the public record.
Key Responsibilities- Review diverse information, quickly grasping complex themes in digital records from UK Government departments (emails, reports, transcripts).
- Identify sensitive content, applying appropriate protective measures like redaction or closure after initial screening.
- Filter irrelevant or duplicate records, documenting rationales for transparency.
- Maintain a strong understanding of legislation (FOIA, Data Protection Act, Public Records Act) to inform decisions.
- Build effective relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Utilize innovative digital tools for efficient and secure record management, applying digital redactions and preparing records for TNA (The National Archives) or public release.
- Collaborate with other reviewers, CSM, and team leads to meet quality standards and report findings.
- Collaborate with FCDO to ensure alignment with essential KPIs and metrics for performance measurement. Establish and maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for daily project operations.
- Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail by identifying sensitive information in reports and providing clear, justified explanations for redaction, retention, or release.
- Work independently and meticulously to conduct efficient, thorough, and dependable reviews, maintaining the highest level of service.
- Adopt and proficiently utilize new technologies to facilitate the digital transformation of sensitivity review procedures.
- Experience: Proven experience in records review, legal, or compliance, preferably within a government or public sector setting.
- Knowledge: Understanding of Public Records legislation and the Freedom of Information Act.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to accurately interpret and apply complex policies and guidelines.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to clearly justify decisions and effectively engage with stakeholders.
- Discretion & Security: High level of discretion and a thorough understanding of security protocols.
