Were looking for a motivated and detail-focused Dispenser to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about patient care and enjoys working in a busy, collaborative healthcare environment.
As a key member of the dispensary team, youll play an important role in ensuring patients receive their medications safely, accurately, and efficiently, while delivering a high standard of service.
Working Pattern
Week 1
- Monday: 08 00
- Tuesday: 09 00
- Friday: 08 00
Week 2
- Monday: 08 00
- Tuesday: 09 00
- Friday: 10 15
- Dispensing prescriptions accurately and ensuring all medications are labelled in line with legal and professional standards
- Supporting the preparation of medications within the dispensary
- Providing clear, helpful advice to patients on medication use, including dosage, storage, and potential side effects
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records at all times
- Working closely with the Dispensary Manager to manage stock levels, including ordering and replenishment
- Monitoring expiry dates and ensuring safe disposal of out-of-date medications
- Keeping the dispensary clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards
Our Team:Hibaldstow Medical Practice is a small, friendly rural dispensing practice serving approximately 3,500 patients across a wide geographical area of around 120 square miles. Our close-knit team includes two GPs, two practice nurses, a nurse associate, a healthcare assistant, eight dispensers, four receptionists, two administrators and a practice manager. We work collaboratively to provide high-quality, patient-focused care to our local community.

Job responsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
Accurately dispense medicines and medical appliances in line with prescriptions and legal requirements.
Provide advice and information to patients regarding the safe use of their medicines.
Maintain accurate records of medicines supplied, controlled drugs, and stock levels.
Operate and manage the practices dosette box system for patients needing extra support.
Support the practice team by answering telephone queries and assisting with administrative tasks related to dispensing.
Maintain confidentiality, ensuring compliance with NHS policies and professional standards.
Participate in training and development activities to maintain skills and knowledge.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Dispenser (essential)
- Level 2 Dispensing Qualification (required)
- Strong understanding of medication processes and patient care
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive attitude and willingness to continue learning and developing
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
- Level 2 dispensary qualification
- Qualified to NVQ level 3
- Previous experience of working in a dispensary
- Previous experience of doing dosette medications
