About the RoleThis is a transformative opportunity for an experienced HR leader to shape and influence people strategy across a growing legal firm. The Director of People, Culture and Development will play a key strategic role in creating an inclusive, engaging, and high-performing environment aligned with our firm's long-term vision.
Key Responsibilities Culture, Strategy and Engagement- Champion and embed our values throughout all policies, behaviours, and practices.
- Design and implement a comprehensive engagement strategy including feedback mechanisms and internal communications.
- Foster a culture of psychological safety and wellbeing across the organisation.
- Ensure cultural alignment throughout the entire employee lifecycle.
Learning, Development and Training
- Develop and deliver structured training programmes including CPD, leadership, and soft skills.
- Expand the Capability Framework to support clear career progression.
- Oversee a first-class Trainee Programme with robust induction and mentorship.
- Equip managers with practical tools to support team development.
Performance and Retention
- Lead performance reviews, succession planning, and progression frameworks.
- Identify and support high-potential employees with tailored development plans.
- Promote transparent and fair handling of underperformance.
- Align individual aspirations with business goals through structured career pathways.
Recruitment and Benefits
- Lead the design and delivery of a values-aligned recruitment strategy.
- Champion our employer brand internally and externally.
- Review and evolve the benefits package based on employee needs and market trends.
- Work closely with senior leadership to ensure strategic talent acquisition.
Strategic HR Leadership
- Use people analytics to support data-driven decision making.
- Lead a growing team across L&D and HR operations.
- Advise the Managing Director and senior leaders on people strategy.
- Drive measurable and sustainable cultural and operational change.
Candidate Profile
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 7 to 10 years in senior HR, People or L&D leadership roles.
- Proven success in strategic HR delivery in legal, professional services, or regulated sectors.
- Strong leadership, influence, and communication across senior stakeholders.
- Proficient in HR tech, analytics, and development frameworks.
Qualifications
- Degree in HR, Business, Psychology or a related field.
- CIPD Level 5 (minimum) or equivalent experience.
- Coaching or facilitation certification (desirable).
