Position

Director of LGBTQ+ Youth Services

We seek a passionate and experienced leader to oversee the LGBTQ+ Youth Services program. The ideal candidate has a strong background in program development, community engagement, staff management, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ youth. The Director will ensure programs align with best practices, funding requirements, and emerging community needs while expanding the scale and impact of QCH's LGBTQ+ Youth Services.

Key Responsibilities Program Development & Operations
  • Oversee daily operations of LGBTQ+ Youth Services, including staff supervision and direct support for program participants.
  • Develop and implement training programs for students (K-12), DOE faculty, school staff, and community organizations on LGBTQ+ awareness, inclusivity, and anti-harassment/bullying.
  • Provide support to school partners in implementing and enforcing DOE guidelines and best practices for supporting LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Create and maintain systems for tracking program goals, progress, and compliance with policies, guidelines, and funding requirements.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and data analysis to inform program priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal QCH programs to integrate LGBTQ+ knowledge and services across initiatives.
  • Represent QCH in external coalitions and networks to expand LGBTQ+ Youth Services.
  • Coordinate participant involvement in annual events, such as the Trans Day of Remembrance and Queens Pride Parade.
  • Respond to emergencies, conflict mediation, and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and professional development for LGBTQ+ Youth Services staff.
  • Lead relevant training for organizations within and outside of QCH to enhance capacity in supporting LGBTQ+ youth.
Strategic Partnerships & Advocacy
  • Collaborate with QCH's Chief Strategy Officer and LGBTQ+ Older Adult Services on advocacy and policy initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with funders and stakeholders, including the NYC DOE, NYS DOH, local schools, and community-based organizations.
  • Ensure timely communication with funders, staff, and stakeholders.
Budget & Compliance Management
  • Oversee the LGBTQ+ Youth Services program budget, including monitoring expenses, processing payments, and maintaining financial compliance.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in youth development, schools, or community-based programs.
  • Deep understanding of LGBTQ+ youth issues, gender identity, and transgender inclusion.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health integration and LGBTQ+-affirming positive youth development practices.
  • Experience providing sexual health education to youth/young adults preferred.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and inclusive community-building in youth programs.
  • Commitment to multicultural programming and working with diverse communities.
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field preferred (LMSW/LCSW candidates highly desirable).
  • Knowledge of NYC DOE systems and Queens communities is a plus.
  • Must pass NYS DOH Fingerprinting Screening, PETS Clearance, NYS Clearance Review Background Check, three reference checks, and a physical exam with updated TB test.
