We are seeking a forward thinking Director of Finance to lead the accuracy, integrity, and strategic direction of our financial operations. This role oversees our established finance team and ensures the efficiency of all financial processes, reporting, and compliance activities. As a key member of our leadership group, the Director of Finance will work closely with the President to guide strategic decision making and help shape the company's continued growth, profitability, and long term financial health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, consolidate, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE.
  • Maintain the general ledger and oversee timely month end and year end close processes.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, including forecasting and working capital planning.
  • Lead budgeting and financial forecasting in partnership with the President and department leaders.
  • Deliver financial analysis, variance reporting, and strategic recommendations to support operational and corporate decision making.
  • Leadership & Staff Management
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff across AP, AR, payroll, and general accounting.
  • Establish clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support ongoing professional development.
  • Ensure efficient workflow, prioritization, and cross training within the finance team.
  • Compliance & Controls
  • Strengthen internal controls to protect company assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Oversee statutory filings including sales tax, payroll remittances, and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and applicable legislation.
  • Process Improvement & Systems
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting processes, systems, and reporting tools.
  • Oversee ERP or accounting software optimization to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop and document financial policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Strategic & Operational Support
  • Support the President in evaluating business opportunities, risks, and cost saving initiatives.
  • Participate in management meetings, providing financial insights that inform operational performance.
  • Contribute to special projects including financing, acquisitions, capital investments, and contract reviews.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 5-8 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and Canadian tax regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision making abilities.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and unwavering integrity.

Working Conditions

Office based role with occasional travel for meetings or audits. Extended hours may be required during peak periods such as year end or budget cycles.
