Job Description
Director for Economic Justice and Pro Bono Initiatives

Fordham University seeks a Director to lead the Feerick Center's economic justice and pro bono programs, ensuring high-quality legal services, strategic advocacy, and community engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and lead economic justice advocacy efforts, including legislative campaigns, amici briefs, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee all operational and programmatic aspects of Economic Justice Programs and Pro Bono Initiatives, managing volunteer staffed legal clinics, pilot projects, and remote service opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain pro bono templates, policies, and training materials; recruit, supervise, and recognize attorneys and law student volunteers.
  • Coordinate consumer debt defense programs, managing daily operations, case management systems, and data integrity.
  • Identify and secure funding opportunities, manage grant reporting, and spearhead community engagement activities to enhance client centered programming.
Qualifications
  • J.D. degree and active admission to the State of New York bar.
  • Minimum five years of experience as a practicing lawyer, preferably in a civil legal services organization with consumer defense focus.
  • Experience managing pro bono and volunteer programs.
  • Commitment to race equity, anti racism, and economic justice; strong analytical, legal writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and independent work skills; attention to detail.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (preferred).
