Job Description
The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead one of NHS Lanarkshire's most impactful digital programmes. As Digital Services Manager (M365), you will drive the successful delivery, optimisation and adoption of Microsoft 365 technologies across the organisation-transforming the way our workforce collaborates, communicates and delivers services.

Reporting to the Head of Digital Operations, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and day-to-day operation of the M365 programme, ensuring outcomes are delivered at pace and aligned to organisational priorities. You will lead both dedicated and cross-functional teams-working across traditional boundaries to ensure our people and services fully realise the benefits of modern digital tools.

You'll combine strong product ownership with clear delivery accountability, ensuring that M365 capabilities are not only deployed effectively, but embedded into business practice with measurable impact.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Programme Delivery Leadership: Lead the end-to-end delivery of the M365 programme, driving progress from planning through to implementation and benefit realisation, with a strong focus on value, user experience and outcomes.
  • Product Ownership & Strategy: Act as the product owner for all M365 services-owning the roadmap, feature development and service evolution to meet changing organisational needs.
  • User-Centred Adoption: Champion adoption and cultural change, ensuring that staff at all levels are equipped, engaged and empowered to use M365 tools confidently and effectively.
  • Team Leadership & Resource Management: Manage a dedicated team while coordinating matrixed resources from across the Digital Function, ensuring the right skills and capabilities are in place to support delivery.
  • Platform Oversight: Be accountable for the ongoing management, performance and governance of M365 platforms across NHSL.
  • Change Control: Validate and authorise planned changes, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum service resilience.
  • Service Transition: Oversee the introduction of new technologies and capabilities, ensuring smooth transition into live service and alignment with digital workplace objectives.
  • Licence Management: Lead the strategic oversight of M365 licensing-ensuring compliance, cost-efficiency and effective licence utilisation across the organisation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships across infrastructure, clinical systems, cyber security and governance teams to ensure joined-up digital delivery.
  • Strategic Contribution: Actively support wider organisational digital initiatives, helping shape and influence NHSL's future digital landscape.
  • On-Call Participation: Contribute to the Digital Services on-call rota as part of the senior leadership team.

What we'll need you to bring

Qualifications

- Masters Degree in a relevant technical discipline

- Formal certification in the following specialist areas:

  • IT Service Management
  • Project/Programme Management

Experience, Competencies and Personal Skills

- Extensive experience in IT service management in the NHS or another complex multidisciplinary public or private sector organisation.

- In depth, specialist expertise in complex information systems acquired through formal training and experience over an extensive period of time.

- Demonstrable experience of managing in a large, complex health organisation during a period of change.

- Experience in staff management/development and cross-functional/multi-disciplinary working at peer level e.g. working within a Health and Social Care Digital Group consisting of NHS and Local Authority staff

- Extensive people and financial management capabilities e.g. line management, financial management.

- A significant and demonstrable track record of success in the management of service improvement, in the delivery and monitoring of technical operational services, in the planning and delivery of successful organisational change and in proactive partnership working internal and external to the NHS.

- A high level of performance in the leadership behaviours identified as crucial within NHS Scotland such as working in partnership, learning and development, caring for staff, improving performance through team working, communicating effectively, improving quality and achieving results.

- Detailed understanding of industry best practice, current and emerging technologies.

The working pattern for this role is Monday-Friday
