Development Underwriter

Avencia are partnered with a leading insurer who are investing in the growth of their Financial Lines division and are looking to recruit a Development Underwriter.

This role will focus on expanding a Financial Lines portfolio across Professional Indemnity, D&O, Technology and other specialist risks. You will work closely with broker partners to develop new business opportunities and support profitable growth across an established regional market.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and convert new business across complex Professional and Management risks
• Build and maintain strong relationships with broker partners
• Conduct broker meetings and represent the business at market events
• Maintain accurate pipeline and activity records within internal systems
• Identify regional growth opportunities and collaborate with internal teams to deliver outcomes
• Support colleagues and contribute to a consistent underwriting approach across the team
• Provide insight to support development of the wider Financial Lines proposition

Skills & experience

• Experience underwriting within Financial Lines or Professional Indemnity
• A track record of developing broker relationships and generating new business
• Strong commercial judgement, negotiation and trading skills
• Confident communication and stakeholder management ability
• High level of professionalism and attention to detail
• Progress towards DIP CII / ACII (or qualified) preferred
• Motivated and proactive approach to portfolio growth
