Job Description - Designated Manager ()# Job Description Designated Manager(Job Number: ) Primary Location:ON-London Pharma Employee Type:Full-Time Description : JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the National Director of Infusion Pharmacy, the Designated Manager will serve as the on site Designated Manager under the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP). This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, driving quality and safety in sterile compounding, and leading a high performing team. This role will act as the primary liaison for regulatory inspections, manage client relationships, implement strategic initiatives, and ensure operational excellence across the site. This role requires strong leadership, project management skills, and the ability to stay current with evolving regulatory requirements to maintain the highest standards of pharmacy practice. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Act as the primary contact/designated manager for inspections and audits by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) and other regulatory bodies. Lead internal audits and ensure continuous improvement in sterile compounding practices. Develop and deliver training programs for pharmacy staff on sterile compounding, safety protocols, and regulatory updates. Lead, manage, and develop the pharmacy team, ensuring they have the skills and resources to excel in their roles. Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital clients, addressing service issues and identifying opportunities for growth. Assist in budget preparation and manage resources efficiently to meet operational and financial targets. Champion the adoption of new technologies (e.g., PKV Technology) and ensure successful implementation and staff adoption. Investigate and resolve incidents related to compounding errors, equipment failures, or service disruptions. Coordinate and work with internal stakeholders to standardize practices and share best practices. Oversee the delivery of pharmacy services to patients and clients, ensuring high quality clinical support, effective communication, and strong client relationship management to enhance patient outcomes and customer satisfaction. Contribute to long term strategic planning for service expansion, partnerships, and innovation in sterile compounding. Prepare regular reports on operational performance, compliance, and business development metrics for senior leadership. Manage and execute projects efficiently, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and timelines. Ensure the business remains in compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements, staying up to date with regulatory changes and updates. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications : QUALIFICATIONS Must hold a Pharmacist license in Ontario, in good standing with the OCP. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a hospital or sterile compounding setting. Proven leadership experience in pharmacy operations. Strong understanding of OCP regulations and sterile compounding standards. Experience with regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance reporting. Business acumen and experience in client-facing or business development roles. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem solving skills. Proven ability to lead teams, manage talent, and drive professional development. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and deliver results efficiently. Ability to stay informed and ensure that the business adapts to and complies with evolving regulatory changes. ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross functional teams, particularly in a healthcare setting. Expertise in Ontario College of Pharmacists' standards and sterile compounding regulations. Proficiency in optimizing pharmacy operations to improve quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency. Ability to adopt and integrate new technologies, including those for automated compounding or dispensing, and track their effectiveness. Must be available to work on site and flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. Occasional travel to Markham, Kitchener, and other business related locations as necessary.
