To lead and manage the design function for high security electronic security systems serving critical national infrastructure, government and defence customers.
The Design Manager ensures that all designs are robust, compliant and proportionate to the threat, meeting applicable UK regulations, security standards and accreditation requirements. The role provides technical leadership across bids and project delivery, enabling safe, resilient and auditable systems for high risk environments.
- Own and maintain the company's technical design standards for high security electronic security systems.
- Lead the design governance framework for CNI, government and defence projects, including design reviews, approvals and technical assurance.
- Develop and oversee secure system architectures for:
- High security IP CCTV and video management platforms
- Enterprise access control (including air locks, interlocks, SLAs and anti passback where required)
- High integrity intruder detection systems (including perimeter and volumetric detection)
- Integrated security management systems and control rooms
- Ensure designs are compatible with relevant accreditation and assurance regimes (e.g. NPSA informed solutions, NSI/SSAIB schemes, site specific government or defence assurance frameworks).
- Embed security policies and handling requirements for sensitive/classified information into design practices (e.g. secure storage, restricted distribution, need to know).
- Substantial experience in the UK electronic security systems industry, including significant exposure to at least one of:
- Critical national infrastructure (e.g. utilities, transport, data centres, energy)
- Central/local government estates and secure facilities
- Defence, MoD or defence supply chain projects
- Proven track record of designing and delivering complex, integrated security systems in high risk or regulated environments.
