Reports To: Operations Director / Managing Director
Job PurposeWe are seeking an experienced and innovative Design Manager to lead our design and product development team in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or industrial design, with experience in construction manufacturing considered a significant advantage. This role is critical in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative products that meet customer and market demands.
Key Responsibilities- - Lead and manage the design team to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- - Oversee the development of new products from concept through to production.
- - Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- - Collaborate with production, quality, and sales teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with customer requirements.
- - Implement and maintain design processes and documentation standards.
- - Drive continuous improvement and innovation in design practices.
- - Manage external design resources and liaise with clients and suppliers as needed.
- - Support the preparation of technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
- - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- - Minimum of 5 years' experience in a design management role within a manufacturing environment.
- - Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
- - Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
- - Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- - Experience in construction manufacturing is a distinct advantage.
- - Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
