Design Manager- London Main Contractor £60,000 - £75,000 + Benefits

Our client, a leading Tier 1 main contractor delivering large-scale residential, mixed-use and commercial developments across the UK and Ireland, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their London team. They are currently delivering high-value urban schemes including major residential and regeneration projects in strategic London locations.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Director, you will manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring delivery aligns with programme, budget, quality and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full design process from tender through construction stage
• Coordinate consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Review drawings and technical submissions for compliance and buildability.
• Drive value engineering and risk mitigation throughout design development.
• Ensure statutory approvals and Building Regulations compliance.
• Support programme management by aligning design deliverables with construction sequencing.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Design Manager with a main contractor.
• Strong technical understanding of construction detailing and coordination.
• Experience on large residential or mixed-use schemes preferred.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple design workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
