Design Engineer

CREGG are hiring for a Design Engineer to join a leading Automation Equipment manufacturing company in Galway.

This role is ideal for a candidate with 3 - 5 years' experience, with a strong focus on SolidWorks (CAD/CAM) and project management, within a manufacturing or tooling environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and development of In-Die tooling and systems
• Design of manual and automated installation tooling
• Project management of multiple tooling projects from concept through to delivery, including:
• Data evaluation, costing and quoting
• Managing manufacture, assembly, testing and dispatch
• Supporting installation and commissioning
• Creation and modification of technical drawings and documentation
• Cross-functional collaboration with sales, operations, engineering and customers
• Maintain BOMs, routers and product data in internal systems
• Drive continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives

Key Requirements:

• 3 - 5 years relevant experience, ideally in manufacturing or mechanical design
• Strong proficiency in Solidworks (CAD/CAM)
• Proven project management experience, managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Engineering qualification (discipline flexible)
• Strong mechanical engineering aptitude (electrical knowledge advantageous)
• Experience in CNC and/or press shop environments is beneficial
• Strong communication skills (internal and customer-facing)
• High level of organisation, accuracy, and ability to work independently
• Willingness to travel within Europe at short notice
• Technical drawing and CAD expertise
• Documentation control and attention to detail
• Time management and prioritization
• Confident communicator across all levels
• Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
