Job Description

A leading manufacturer of metal products is looking for a Design Engineer to join their team at their office based in the Dudley area.

The ideal candidate will be a hard working, adaptable and personable Design Engineer with a strong background in 2D AutoCAD, with experience in the sheet metal industry.

This is a fantastic opportunity with a leading company who are expanding rapidly, with a goal of doubling their turnover within the next decade.

The Design department is currently operating on a straight days shift pattern, on a 40 hour work week, five days in the office, 07:30 - 16:00.

Role: Design Engineer Location: Dudley, West Midlands Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Key Areas of Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with customers and Sales to clarify engineering requirements and specifications
  • Prepare and release accurate drawings, specifications and production data to support manufacturing and delivery "right first time"
  • Review work orders and drawings to minimise errors and rework
  • Use and maintain CAD/CAM systems and records to enable efficient order processing
  • Support process development, continuous improvement and material optimisation
  • Assist production teams with process updates, training and in process quality checks
  • Help identify and resolve design or specification issues in collaboration with production teams
  • Contribute to cost control initiatives, value engineering and make or buy decisions
  • Maintain design standards and support standardisation projects
  • Stay informed on manufacturing capabilities, materials and emerging production techniques
  • Undertake additional duties within the scope of the role as required
Skills & Experience
  • HND or degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem solving ability
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D) and Radan (2D)
  • Team oriented with a collaborative approach to work
