About the Department

Delivering high quality Design & Technology lessons for KS3 and KS4 with a strong focus on student achievement. The department welcomes teachers from the following subject disciplines:

• Hospitality and Catering
• Product Design
• Graphics and Textiles
• Hair & Beauty

The curriculum is built with the end in mind: the KS3 curriculum prepares students for the KS4 qualifications of WJEC Hospitality and Catering, WJEC Design and Technology: Product Design, and VTCT Hair and Beauty. The department may expand the qualifying list based on individual specialisms.

Responsibilities

Deliver and manage engaging, student centred lessons that incorporate a variety of teaching and learning strategies to support achievement in Design & Technology.

Qualifications

Relevant experience in one or more of the subject disciplines listed above. A passion for design and technology, strong classroom leadership, and a commitment to student first practice.

Department Resources

The department is equipped with specialist rooms and equipment - a Product Design workshop, two catering classrooms, a Graphics/Textiles classroom, and a Hair & Beauty salon - all outfitted with visualisers. Supporting staff includes two technicians (Product Design and Catering, with a job share arrangement).
