Salary: up to £72,000 (dependent on experience)

Role Overview

The Estate Deputy Project Security Lead supports the Estate Project Security Lead in delivering operational security across a large, multi-use rural estate in Wiltshire.

Acting as second-in-command (2iC), the Deputy Project Lead provides day-to-day operational leadership, supervises Team Leaders and security personnel, and assumes full operational authority in the absence of the Project Lead in accordance with governance arrangements.

The role requires strong supervisory capability, sound operational judgement, and the ability to maintain consistent standards within a discreet, service-focused residential security environment.

Key Responsibilities Operational Support & Leadership
  • Support the Project Lead in the leadership, coordination, and oversight of all estate security operations.
  • Act as deputy and assume operational command during the absence of the Project Lead.
  • Coordinate daily operational delivery including shift planning, tasking, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure consistent operational standards across residential, operational and event areas of the estate.
Team Management
  • Provide line management oversight to Team Leaders.
  • Ensure effective supervision of security personnel and maintenance of professional standards.
  • Monitor discipline, welfare, performance and conduct of operational staff.
  • Contribute to coaching, development and competence assurance.
Security Operations
  • Maintain and assure delivery of:
  • Access control procedures
  • Perimeter and boundary monitoring
  • Static and mobile patrols
  • Residential security support
  • Incident response and escalation
  • Event and high profile visitor security support
  • Support secure road movements and client transport where required.
  • Lead incident response in the absence of the Project Lead.
  • Direct operational communications and initial investigations where required.
  • Ensure accurate logging and documentation of:
  • Operational activity
  • Staff movements
  • Oversee reporting quality from Team Leaders and ensure timely submission to the Project Lead.
  • Ensure all personnel understand and comply with established reporting procedures.
  • Support project level risk, threat and vulnerability assessments.
  • Ensure mitigation measures directed by the Project Lead are implemented effectively.
  • Forward all relevant incident and intelligence related information for escalation through approved channels.
  • Implement operational changes directed as a result of updated threat assessments or intelligence advisories.

The role does not independently assess threat levels or conduct intelligence analysis.

Provide operational support in monitoring and maintaining the effectiveness of:

  • CCTV systems
  • Access control and alarm systems
  • Communications infrastructure

Identify faults, vulnerabilities or operational issues and elevate appropriately. The role does not hold authority for permanent system changes.

  • Act as secondary security liaison for estate management, residents (where appropriate), contractors and event organisers.
  • Maintain professional engagement with emergency services and external partners.
  • Ensure interactions comply with agreed communication and escalation protocols.
Competence Requirements Professional Experience
  • Experience in a supervisory or management level security role, ideally within a complex estate or project based environment.
  • Experience leading operational teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
  • Understanding of security risk assessments and mitigation implementation.
  • Working knowledge of relevant UK legislation and good security practice.
Technical & Operational Capability
  • Strong understanding of operational security delivery and incident management.
  • Proven ability to supervise Team Leaders and maintain operational discipline.
  • Ability to produce clear operational reports and documentation.
  • Experience supporting structured security projects involving personnel and resources.
Qualifications & Licensing
  • Valid SIA licence appropriate to the licensable activities undertaken (e.g. Door Supervision, Close Protection, or Security Guarding), where required.
  • Where acting in a non licensable management capacity, demonstrable understanding of SIA compliance requirements.
  • Relevant professional security qualification and/or equivalent operational experience.
  • Medical training certification appropriate to the role.
  • Subject to appropriate background checks and vetting.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
Authority & Escalation

The Deputy Project Lead is authorised to:

  • Manage delegated day to day operational activity.
  • Recommend improvements to resourcing, deployment or contractor tasking.

The role must escalat:

  • Significant incidents or emerging risks with potential legal, safety or reputational implications.
  • Requests for budget variations or material changes to security posture.
  • Any deviation from approved policies, plans or authority limits.

Formal approval authority remains with the Project Lead or senior management.
