Job Description
Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Direction and Development

  • Support the Head Teacher in shaping, communicating and embedding the school's aspirational, excellence driven vision.
  • Analyse school performance data to inform strategic planning and leading sustained improvement.
  • Lead and monitor priority areas within the School Improvement Plan, ensuring clear impact.
  • Strengthen partnerships with governors, families, faith communities and external agencies.

2. Leadership of Curriculum and Teaching and Learning

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of an ambitious, knowledge rich curriculum reflecting the school's virtues led ethos.
  • Deliver and ensure consistently high-quality teaching through monitoring, coaching and collaborative development.
  • Drive high expectations and secure excellence for all learners, including vulnerable groups.
  • Lead professional development that deepens pedagogy, reflective practice and innovation.

3. Leading and Managing Staff

  • Line manage staff with clarity, compassion and accountability, modelling school virtues.
  • Lead the performance management cycle and set aspirational professional growth targets.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive staff culture that supports wellbeing and collective excellence.
  • Support high quality recruitment, induction and retention of staff aligned with the school's values.

4. Behaviour, Safeguarding and Pupil Welfare

  • Support as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, promoting a proactive safeguarding culture.
  • Lead behaviour policy implementation that champions virtues, respect and aspiration.
  • Support attendance and punctuality initiatives, strengthening family partnerships.
  • Work with the inclusion and pastoral teams to ensure vulnerable pupils receive high quality support.

5. Assessment, Progress and Inclusion

  • Oversee assessment systems, ensuring accuracy and effective monitoring of progress.
  • Analyse outcomes, identify gaps and coordinate impactful interventions.
  • Work with the SENCO to secure inclusive, high-quality provision for SEND, EAL and other needs.
  • Provide clear assessment information to staff, governors and external agencies.

6. Operational and Organisational Management

  • Support the day-to-day running of the school to ensure smooth, efficient and safe operations.
  • Lead on policy development and statutory compliance, upholding high expectations.
  • Support resource and budget planning aligned to strategic and curriculum priorities.
  • Coordinate events, enrichment and initiatives that enhance the school's virtues led ethos.

7. Community Engagement and Partners ships

  • Build strong, positive relationships with parents, carers, faith partners and the wider community.
  • Represent the school in local networks to enhance opportunities and collaboration.
  • Lead initiatives that increase parental involvement in learning and wellbeing.
  • Work with external agencies to secure support for pupils and families.

8. Leadership of School Culture, Ethos and Wellbeing

  • Model and champion the school's aspirational, virtues led and faith inspired ethos.
  • Promote staff wellbeing, professional joy and a culture of mutual respect.
  • Celebrate achievement, diversity and service within the school community.
  • Embed continuous improvement, reflective practice and collective responsibility for excellence.
