Would you like to join AD&D's Digital Strategy & Governance team and play a key role in supporting our leadership and critical business activities?

The ARE Directorate of the Scottish Government is part of the DG Net Zero family of Directorates. ARE's mission is to work together with stakeholders to enable vibrant and thriving communities and businesses, that protect and enhance Scotland's nature.

ARE relies on digital services to deliver its commitment to support Scotland's sustainable economic growth in agriculture, the food industry and in rural areas. It does this through direct payments; a broad range of best practice support and education; and ensuring compliance with regulations. For example, round £600 million is paid annually to customers using the major Rural Payments and Services (RP&S) digital platform and other supporting systems.

ARE Digital and Data (AD&D) is responsible for providing the capability and capacity that ensures these digital services are reliable, secure and up-to-date. This requires a broad range of technical competencies, mostly provided by inhouse and contracted specialists working in multidisciplinary teams.

AD&D provides the full lifecycle of digital services including, but not limited to, strategic advice, requirements definition, service design, solution development and on-going service support and maintenance.

AD&D works collegiately with other parts of the Scottish Government to improve how digital services are developed and deployed by the Scottish Public Sector.

You will lead on business management activities, including people data management, financial tracking, corporate coordination, and direct support to the Deputy Director.

Responsibilities
  • To ensure the effective delivery of divisional operations and corporate responsibilities, maintaining resilience and continuity across AD&D.
  • Maintain accurate AD&D People Data - Including Bud1, staff directory, master people spreadsheet, vacancy tracker, org chart, and monthly people data reports for branch heads.
  • Provide direct support to the Deputy Director - Including diary management, travel arrangements, meeting preparation, SMT coordination, and tracking actions and decisions.
  • Submit and manage Business Cases to WFPB - Ensure timely and accurate submissions and facilitate AO templates through the approvals chain.
  • Manage BUD1 capitalisations, costings, and updates - Support financial tracking and reporting for the division.
  • Maintain Business Continuity Plans and contact lists - Ensure divisional readiness and resilience through regular updates.
  • Oversee EPC purchases and approvals - Act as the division's EPC card holder and Oracle approver.
  • Coordinate divisional communications and events - Including core briefs, responses to corporate commissions, and organisation of all-staff and leadership events.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding - Work with Asset Management to ensure smooth transitions for new and departing colleagues.
