Job description
Join us at Defence Digital as a Data Governance Manager and play a pivotal role in ensuring our data remains secure, accurate, and compliant whilst supporting our mission. You will lead stakeholder management initiatives, develop robust policies, and provide essential assurance across our data landscape.
The Data Governance Manager position represents a critical role in maintaining the integrity, security, and compliance of our extensive data assets. This position requires an individual who can effectively manage stakeholder relationships across diverse teams whilst developing and implementing comprehensive data governance policies across Defence.
You'll provide assurance through robust monitoring and evaluation processes, ensuring our data management practices meet the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with technical teams, business units, and senior leadership to establish data governance frameworks that support Pan-Defence strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain comprehensive data governance policies and procedures
Manage relationships with key stakeholders across multiple business areas
Provide assurance through monitoring and evaluation of data governance practices
Lead policy writing initiatives for data management and compliance

Person specification
To be successful in this role you will bring a strong operational understanding of data quality, coupled with the ability to communicate compelling analytical insights and strategic recommendations to stakeholders at all levels. You will demonstrate expertise in developing and implementing performance measurement frameworks, leveraging digital technologies to enhance analytical capabilities, and managing analysis throughout the product lifecycle, including risk identification and coaching.
A user-centric approach is essential, with the ability to strategically address evolving user needs and navigate political implications. You will possess advanced skills in data verification and validation, influence senior stakeholders on data approaches, and effectively work within constraints, including security and privacy considerations, while championing best practices and driving continuous improvement.
