Job Description

Since 1899, Birmingham Settlement has been working to create opportunity and choice - connecting and empowering people through action, activities, and shared learning to build and sustain wellbeing for all.

Organisation: Birmingham Settlement

Location: Birmingham Settlement Money Advice Centre, B19 2AB

Founded in 1899, Birmingham Settlement is one of the oldest charities in Birmingham. Part of a movement of social reform activists outraged by the plight of the poor in the 19th century, originally Birmingham Settlement's work concentrated on providing support to women and families in the seriously deprived St Mary's area, now known as Newtown.

Now our breadth of work is much wider and reaches more communities in Birmingham. We are now based across north-west Birmingham, with bases in Ladywood and Kingstanding.

We work in an ever-changing environment, with new challenges to face, both as an organisation and for our local communities. We adapt the way we work and the services we provide to meet these challenges.

About the Role

Birmingham Settlement has an opportunity to join our Money Advice Team, as an experienced Debt & Welfare Benefits Adviser.

As an experienced Debt & Welfare Benefits Adviser, you will already have a background in providing effective, high-quality debt and welfare benefits advice to a wide range of clients in differing circumstances. You will be adaptable with excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to manage your own workload.

Based at our Newtown office with outreach work in other areas of the city, you will be joining a long-established and professional Money Advice Team providing specialist advice with a holistic approach that covers all areas of debt and welfare benefit along with training to build and continually improve money management and financial capability.

Closing date for applications: Thursday 23/10/25 at 5pm
