Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Data Centre Technician to join a specialist team supporting the operation and maintenance of a mission-critical data centre facility in Longacre. This hands-on role is ideal for a technically minded individual with experience in mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems looking to develop within a high-performance, high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on data centre infrastructure.
- Respond to building management system (BMS) alarms and perform fault diagnosis and resolution.
- Assist with HVAC, UPS, and power distribution systems to ensure continuous operation.
- Support vendor management and oversee third-party contractor performance and compliance.
- Record utility readings and complete site walkthroughs to monitor operational status.
- Ensure all work is carried out to site standards, safety procedures, and documentation protocols.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team while taking ownership of assigned tasks.
What We're Looking For
- A recognised technical qualification or completed apprenticeship in a relevant discipline (eg, electrical, mechanical, HVAC).
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in a data centre, critical environment, or technical maintenance role.
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as part of a 24/7 team rota.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.
- Effective communication skills to interact with internal teams and external vendors.
- Physically able to carry out maintenance tasks in a demanding environment.
