Day Matron (Fixed Term)

Hanford School is seeking to appoint a caring, committed and enthusiastic Matron to join our thriving boarding community. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the pastoral care and wellbeing of our pupils, helping to create a safe, happy and nurturing environment in which they can flourish academically, socially and emotionally. Working closely with the Head of Boarding, School Nursing Team and wider boarding staff, the successful candidate will provide outstanding support to pupils, building positive relationships based on trust, respect and encouragement. Responsibilities will include overseeing the welfare of boarders, supporting pupils' personal organisation and independence, maintaining a welcoming and well-presented boarding house, liaising with parents and colleagues, monitoring pupil wellbeing, assisting with permissions and appointments, supporting weekend activities and ensuring that safeguarding and boarding standards are consistently upheld.

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills who is approachable, resilient, proactive and able to remain calm under pressure. Experience of working with children is essential, while experience within a pastoral, educational or boarding environment would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be a positive role model with a genuine passion for supporting young people and contributing to school life. Matrons are at the heart of the boarding experience at Hanford, and this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a warm, supportive and ambitious school community.
