Data Warehouse Engineer

Lisbon | €40,000 gross annual + on-call allowance | Azure Data Platform

Our client is looking for a Data Warehouse Engineer to join their Decision Intelligence team in Lisbon. This is a great opportunity to join a small but highly impactful data team at the centre of the organisation's data platform, where the data warehouse supports reporting, analytics and data science initiatives across Europe.

The team manages a modern Azure-based data environment, and with several new projects underway - including onboarding new data providers and evolving existing pipelines - it's an exciting time to join and contribute to the growth of the platform.

You'll work closely with an experienced Senior Data Warehouse Engineer, giving you the opportunity to learn quickly while developing your skills in a collaborative environment.

What you'll be doing:

You'll help maintain and evolve the organisation's core data warehouse, primarily working on enhancing existing pipelines by adding new tables, columns and features to support new products, data sources and analytics requirements.

You'll also help maintain the stability of the platform by monitoring pipelines, identifying issues and resolving them where needed. The team works closely with data science and reporting teams, so you'll help create the datasets and structures needed for new algorithms and insights.

Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to suggest improvements to the platform and contribute ideas on how the team can continue evolving the data environment.

Technology:

The platform is built on a modern Azure data stack, including:

• Azure Data Factory
• Azure Databricks
• Azure Data Lake Storage
• Python/PySpark
• SQL
• CI/CD pipelines

Experience with Terraform, Azure Functions or Power BI would be beneficial but isn't essential.

What they're looking for:

You'll ideally have 2+ years of experience in a Data Warehouse or Data Engineering environment, with a good understanding of ETL pipelines and cloud data platforms.

Experience with Python or PySpark, SQL, Azure Data Factory and Databricks will be important, alongside the ability to work collaboratively with teams across the business.

They're also looking for someone who is curious and proactive - someone who enjoys improving systems and contributing ideas rather than simply working through tickets.
