About the Role

Are you eager to build a career in Data Protection and Privacy? Newsquest is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Privacy Team as a Data Protection and Privacy Analyst.

No prior experience with UK GDPR is necessary, but preferred. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual with a passion for learning and a keen eye for detail. Full training and on-the-job support will be provided.

As part of our team, you'll play a key role in managing Subject Access Requests (SARs) and providing vital support to our Data Protection and Privacy Manager within the Gannett Privacy Office (GPO).

Key Responsibilities

In this role, your primary focus will be managing the SAR process efficiently, ensuring requests are processed accurately and within regulatory deadlines. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Responding to privacy-related requests, complaints, and queries, ensuring they are addressed or assigned to the appropriate person or team.
  • Supporting the escalation process for data breaches and cybersecurity incidents.
  • Assisting with Privacy Threshold Assessments (PTAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
  • Helping develop and maintain awareness and training programs on data protection, including content on the Data Protection SharePoint site.
  • Cataloguing and reviewing Records of Processing Activities (RoPA).
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We're seeking a self-starter who thrives on attention to detail and meeting deadlines. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong analytical skills and excellent written communication.
  • The ability to evaluate and process requests with care and precision.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (an advantage).
  • Previous experience in customer service or complaints handling (beneficial but not essential; training will be provided).
  • Education: A-levels or higher, or relevant equivalent work-based experience.
