Job Description & Summary

We are seeking a motivated and highly organised Data Quality Governance Associate to join our Chief Data Office team, reporting to the Data Quality Lead. This is a junior governance and stakeholder-facing role focused on supporting the adoption of data quality frameworks, standards and operating practices across the business. The successful candidate will help embed data quality best practice by working with business stakeholders to clarify roles and responsibilities, identify data owners and data stewards, document operating procedures, support process improvement, and promote business ownership of data quality. This role is suited to someone with an interest in data governance, data quality management, business engagement, process improvement and operating model support. It is not primarily a hands on data cleansing, reporting, dashboarding or technical data analysis role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Data Quality Lead in the implementation and ongoing improvement of data quality frameworks, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Help embed data quality best practice across the business by engaging with stakeholders and supporting them in understanding their responsibilities for managing data quality.
  • Assist in identifying and documenting data owners, data stewards and data custodians across key business areas.
  • Support the definition and documentation of roles and responsibilities, including RACI matrices and operating model documentation for data quality activities.
  • Create, maintain and improve standard operating procedures, process documentation, guidance materials and other governance artefacts relating to data quality.
  • Support stakeholder workshops, meetings and working groups focused on data ownership, stewardship, issue management and data quality improvement.
  • Help promote a culture of accountability for data quality by supporting business teams on the journey towards active ownership and stewardship of their data.
  • Support the design and improvement of data quality processes, including issue identification, escalation, ownership, remediation tracking and governance reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining data quality governance documentation, including standards, procedures, process maps, action logs and decision records.
  • Work with cross functional teams to support the documentation of data definitions, data lineage, metadata and critical data elements where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to data governance, data quality management and business adoption.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a data governance, data management, compliance, or data quality focused role.
  • Third level qualification required; a degree in Information Management, Data Management, Risk, Compliance or related field is desirable.
  • Experience working with business stakeholders, supporting meetings or workshops, documenting processes and tracking actions.
  • Prior exposure to data management, data governance, data quality, data ownership or data stewardship concepts.
  • Experience in a junior or support role within a Chief Data Office, transformation team, business operations function, risk function or governance team.
  • Awareness of data governance frameworks, data quality standards or data management best practices, such as DAMA DMBOK.
  • Experience documenting processes, procedures, roles and responsibilities, meeting outputs or governance materials.
  • Familiarity with data catalogs, metadata, data lineage, data quality tools or issue management tools would be beneficial but is not essential.

  • Ability to manage actions, follow up with stakeholders and keep governance activities moving forward.
  • Ability to understand business processes, identify gaps, ask clarifying questions and support practical improvements.
  • Proactive, self motivated and comfortable working in a changing environment.
  • Collaborative and team oriented, with a willingness to support colleagues and business stakeholders.
  • Confident engaging with stakeholders and encouraging them to take ownership of data quality responsibilities.
  • Curious and enthusiastic about the role of data governance and data quality in improving business outcomes.
