As a Data Center Manager in Amazon, you will get to manage the world's largest Cloud Computing Infrastructure. Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting data centers and all servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual access for customers. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles, collaborating to uphold high safety and security standards while delivering capacity at cost and empowering bold ideas.
Key job responsibilities
- Managing and developing teams of technicians, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance
- Maintaining existing co-located and in-house Data Centers
- Helping build and bring online new Data Centers
- Constantly improving all our processes and procedures
- Assisting & managing relationships with external vendors & contractors
- Liaising with internal teams & management groups
- Ensuring we adhere to and exceed local Health & Safety standards in all our Data Centers
- Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of our Data Centers and utilizing those metrics to drive positive changes
- Assisting in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management and capacity management
- Experience communicating complex business concepts in verbal and written form
- 5+ years of people management experience within an IT environment
- In-depth knowledge and experience of change, problem and incident management
- Understanding of Financial budgeting, Capex and Opex concepts
- Experience in systems administration (Linux or Windows)
- Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, Lean techniques, PMP or similar standards preferred
- Experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure
- Experience in one or more IT infrastructure domains (storage, compute, networking, security, software development, systems administration, database engineering or administration, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, big data, DevOps, or other IT infrastructure domain)
- Experience in safety and security measures, ITIL foundation
