Duties/Responsibilities

Location: Covering South / Midlands Mobile - UK wide travel will be required. A FULL UK Driving Licence is essential.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00

Role overview:

Reporting to the National Commissioning Manager, you will help develop and grow a commissioning team for Data Centre clients. You will ensure that commissioning is carried out to high standards, with a structured, auditable process, ensuring M&E services operate according to design.

  • Supervise EMCOR engineers and third parties during commissioning to ensure safety, compliance, and accurate testing.
  • Write and review commissioning procedures and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Prepare and submit commissioning documentation for review and approval.
  • Plan onsite commissioning activities, including procedures, safety systems, and coordination with other teams.
  • Ensure test equipment is available and calibrated.
  • Conduct pre-start briefings with all parties involved in commissioning.
  • Ensure procedures and safety systems are followed during activities.
  • Witness and close out commissioning activities, obtaining client acceptance or handover.
  • Identify technical issues and consult with the manager or support team.
  • Lead onsite commissioning activities according to schedule and testing protocols.
  • Verify correct installation and operation of equipment and systems.
  • Work closely with project teams to communicate requirements.
  • Coordinate with statutory authorities as needed.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests with clients when required.
Person Specification

The candidate should have strong communication skills and substantial technical experience in Mechanical services, including pumps, valves, pipework, and HVAC systems.

Knowledge of relevant standards is essential.

A minimum of 5 years' experience as a commissioning engineer in Data Centres, familiar with the commissioning process and testing phases.

Knowledge of electrical and standby power systems is advantageous but not essential.

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to methodically plan and execute projects using procedures and workflows, and familiarity with design review and reporting tools.
