The Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join our expanding Data Strategy team as part of our plans to upgrade and modernise our data platform through our dedicated programme - Programme Ocean.
The Data Strategy team within the directorate is integral to Ofwat's vision and strategy for the sector, leading on the data strategy and on providing high quality insights into sector and company performance. The Data Strategy team seeks to shape how data is used through the delivery of the data strategy, providing teams with practical solutions that result in efficiencies, enhanced visibility & access to data as well as effective decision making & insights. They also lead on the development of a new data platform.
This is a great opportunity to work with leading cloud technology and help change the way data is used in the public sector. We have embarked on an ambitious data modernisation programme using modern and evolving technology, to maximise the value of data and insights to Ofwat

About You
Below are some of the key essential experience, skills & knowledge required for this post:
- Technical Expertise: 3 years' experience in applying statistical methods, data models and undertaking data analysis.
- Experience as a Data Analyst or similar role within a complex organisational or data environment.
- Experience in working with Data visualisation tools including working with Power BI.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL or similar, and working with cloud-based platforms.
- A working knowledge of data governance and quality assurance principles and experience managing data throughout the data lifecycle.
- Experience in analysing and modelling large amounts of complex information to produce innovative and automated solutions.
- Proven ability to undertake research and present findings.
- Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to concisely explain complex analysis and issues to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work effectively to collaborate with teams across the organisation to understand data requirements.
