Cyber Security Analyst
6 month contract
Edinburgh - Onsite
£225 - £275 Outside IR35 per day 

As a Cybersecurity Analyst, coming in to support the Cyber Security Lead, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the organization against evolving cyber threats. You'll proactively identify and mitigate risks, manage vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with security frameworks. This position drives strategic security initiatives and collaborates closely with IT teams to strengthen resilience.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor threat intelligence sources, analyse indicators and escalate findings
  • Execute cybersecurity awareness training, including simulated phishing exercises, Intranet posts and targeted training.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans, track remediation efforts and work with wider IT teams to manage vulnerability and patch compliance.
  • Handle and prioritize service tickets relating to cybersecurity incidents and requests.
  • Manage third party risk platforms, issue questionnaires and track responses to mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Collaborate with wider IT teams to plan and remediate security incidents, assist in containment, investigation and recovery.
  • Contribute to drafting and maintaining cybersecurity policies, procedures, standards and playbooks.
  • Work hand in hand with external partners to extract maximum value from provided services including a managed SOC.

Desirable

  • Degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft enterprise technologies (Azure, Active Directory, SQL, Office365, Windows OS).
  • Creative, "think like an attacker" approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience with SIEM, Firewalls, antivirus, encryption, and risk management.
