Professor Greg Barton - Rector at Deakin Lancaster Indonesia

Introduction from the Rector Thank you for considering joining us as we form our teaching faculty for Computer Science and Cyber Security at Deakin Lancaster Indonesia.

As part of our commitment to delivering education to more students in more parts of the world, Deakin University (AU) and Lancaster University (UK) have joined with Navitas to develop an innovative partnership to manage and operate a new joint higher education campus in Indonesia.

Bringing together a combined reputation for world-leading education and research and extensive experience in international education, the Deakin University Lancaster University Indonesia (DLI) Campus will deliver the highest quality, affordable educational opportunities to Indonesian and international students while also supporting the education, research, and human capital priorities of the Indonesian government. It will also advance Indonesia's reputation as an appealing international education destination.

We warmly welcome applications from academics who share our mission in creating a unique educational experience, and look forward to recieving your application.

Our University You will be joining a university that combines the stengths of two of the best teaching and learning Univeristies globally and a vibrant new venture that places strong emphasis on the student experience and community.

At DLI, we teach five dual-degree programmes, combining modules from both world-class universities-Deakin and Lancaster-enabling students to achieve two individual degree qualifications (two testamurs) in four years of study.

DLI provides an integrative and inclusive learning environment for a culturally and ethnically diverse student population. Students benefit from access to academic staff who are experts in their field, and who deliver research-led teaching that fosters academic challenge, critical thinking, and exceptional graduate outcomes.

The campus opens its doors to its first student intake in September 2025. It initially can accommodate up to 1,500 students and approximately 100 staff, with ambitious plans for further growth in the coming years.

Lancaster and Deakin share a longstanding collaboration in student mobility and research and have complementary global networks and partnerships. Operational delivery of the campus is led by global education provider Navitas, building on its established partnerships with both universities.

A role of academic influence and strategic impact As a Lecturer in Computing at Deakin Lancaster Indonesia (DLI), you will be at the forefront of undergraduate education on our dynamic international campus in Bandung, West Java. Reporting to the Rector in the first instance and then to an academic director, you will play a central role in co-designing and delivering engaging, high-quality learning experiences that prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving global digital landscape.

You will demonstrate a strong commitment to innovative teaching practices that actively engage undergraduate learners. This includes the use of student-centred approaches such as flipped classrooms, collaborative and inquiry-based learning, blended delivery, and real-world problem solving. You will co-design inclusive, accessible curricula that promote academic curiosity, critical thinking, and practical skill development across a diverse, multi dimentional global student cohort.

You will contribute to curriculum development, assessment design, and programme enhancement, ensuring that learning remains relevant, rigorous, and aligned with industry expectations. You will foster an environment where students are motivated to participate, reflect, and apply their learning confidently.

Beyond the classroom, you will support student development through academic advising and mentorship. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to pedagogical scholarship or research activities that underpins and strengthens our teaching quality and student outcomes.

As part of a collaborative academic community across Indonesia, Australia, and the UK, you will share best practice, engage in continuous professional learning, and help shape a vibrant, inclusive academic culture that reflects the values and ambitions of this unique transnational partnership.
