We are currently hiring a CSSD TECHNICIAN for a leading hospital in Dublin, Ireland. Join a team committed to delivering exceptional patient care with a focus on quality, respect, compassion, and dignity.

Hours: 39 per week
Job Type: Permanent / Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment in accordance with hospital policies and international sterilization standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure full traceability of instruments and sterilization processes in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, clean room protocols, waste management, and health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Monitor the condition of equipment, promptly report defects or malfunctions, and support routine maintenance activities.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient service delivery and high standards of patient care.
  • Maintain inventory, stock levels, and supplies related to sterile services, ensuring equipment and work areas remain clean, organised, and operational.
  • Treat all patient information with strict confidentiality while demonstrating professionalism, respect, and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in staff meetings, departmental briefings, quality improvement initiatives, audits, and accreditation activities to support continuous service enhancement.
  • Report incidents, accidents, and safety concerns promptly, while complying with hospital policies on fire safety, complaints management, and clinical governance.
  • Support the orientation and training of new staff, maintain professional competence through continuous learning, and demonstrate flexibility in assisting across departments as required.
Requirements
  • Experience working in a Central Decontamination Unit (CDU) or Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD).
  • Knowledge of decontamination, sterilization, and instrument reprocessing procedures.
  • Understanding of infection prevention and control standards.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
