Job Description
Job Overview

HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) seeks a Crown Court Clerk with line management responsibility to ensure Crown Court hearings run smoothly. The role requires confident courtroom communication, ability to produce accurate and time critical court documents, and a high level of emotional resilience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the clerking team to maximise judicial sitting time and ensure smooth running of Crown Courts.
  • Speak publicly in court and liaise with judges, defence, prosecution, media and members of the public.
  • Produce accurate court orders, verdicts, arraignments and hearing outcomes on time.
  • Provide line management: set team objectives, conduct meetings and support team wellbeing.
  • Adapt to new digital systems and technologies as HMCTS invests in solutions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience leading a team in a court or similar environment.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to complete documents accurately to deadlines.
  • Proficient IT skills with adaptability to new technologies.
  • Resilient, multi tasking and able to work within procedural frameworks.
Working Arrangements

Fixed location at Great Grimsby Combined Court Centre, Town Hall Square, Grimsby, DN31 1HX. Occasional travel to Hull Combined Court may be required. Full time (37 hours per week) with flexible, part time or job share options available where business needs permit.
