Job Description

Friends International is an evangelical mission agency dedicated to supporting and equipping churches to reach international students for Christ. We currently have 80 staff working in 35 university towns and cities across the UK and Ireland.

Reporting to the Nottingham Centre Team Leader, you will fulfil a vital role in working with the local team to develop international student ministries with and alongside evangelical churches in Sutton Bonington. This will involve mobilising volunteers and liaising with church leaders to take the ministry forward. Personal evangelism and discipleship with international students will also be a key component of the work, as you seek to provide a model for others.

You will be:
  • Educated to degree level or its equivalent
  • Passionate about cross-cultural ministry
  • A visionary able to prioritise and think strategically
  • A team builder, with gifts of encouragement and pastoral care
  • An effective communicator
  • Committed to pursuing unity and building bridges across the evangelical spectrum
  • A self-starter, able to manage time and resources well
  • Willing to be an active member of Sutton Bonington Baptist Church
  • Willing to raise personal support from churches and individuals
Hours:

Minimum 14 hours, up to full-time (35 hours), dependent on level of available finance (i.e. sufficient money for your own salary and work-related expenses from mission giving).

Salary:

The salary will be pro rata of £32,916 per annum for a 35-hour week. Sutton Bonington Baptist Church would contribute sufficient finance for the staff worker to be employed two days per week by FI with the expectation that, with training and support, the post holder would raise additional finance from other mission partners (churches and individuals) to allow at least one additional day per week in this role.

To apply,

Please email your CV and covering letter to Diane Smith, . Your cover letter should include specific examples of any student ministry experience you have, especially in a cross-cultural context, and any experience of raising money to fund your Christian ministry.

Applications will be considered as we receive them. A local recruiting manager may contact you for an informal conversation before asking you to complete a formal application form.

NB. For candidates with insufficient international student ministry experience, we would consider appointing at the Apprentice Staff Worker level.
