Bettys Cookery School, based on Hookstone Chase in Harrogate, helps customers build culinary skills through courses, demonstrations and hands-on cooking experiences. It is also a welcoming community space where people can learn about healthy, nutritious food and explore careers in food.
We are looking for a Course Assistant to join our Cookery School team. In this role, you will help deliver an exceptional customer experience by preparing refreshments and independently cookinga high-quality hot lunchwithin a tight timescale.
The Role- Work alongside other Course Assistants as part of a small team to ensure Bettys Cookery School courses run smoothly.
- Prepare ingredients, course materials and recipe batches for customers, such as pâte de fruits, sourdough starter and sauces to complement lunches.
- Look after the Cookery School shop and process customer purchases and transactions on the day.
- Support the Tutor during courses, providing assistance whenever needed.
- Help ensure every customer receives outstanding service that exceeds expectations and reflects Bettys' standards.
Some experience using Excel and Windows is desirable.
Working Pattern- This is a part-timerole working16hoursover 2days between the hours of 8:30am and 5:30pm.
- The working days for this role will be predominantly Fridays andSaturdaysas these are our customer delivery days.
- You may be required to work a different day subject to business needs.

About youWe are looking for someone with experience in a catering or kitchen environment who is confident preparing and producing recipes at scale. You will have a good understanding of food safety and health and safety standards, and you will be committed to always following best practice.
- Experience in baking, patisserie, meat and fish preparation is desirable.
- You will bring excellent customer service skills and understand that the customer is at the heart of everything we do.
- You will work to a high standard, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to established processes.
- You will manage stock effectively, follow use-by dates and consistently produce high-quality food.
- You will be well organised, able to multi-task and confident working to deadlines while remaining calm under pressure.
