Core Speciality Lead for Surgery - Longitiudinal - T F Years (Tooting)

City St George's is seeking a surgical clinician-educator to provide longitudinal academic oversight of surgery placements across the clinical practice years (T-F) of the MBBS programme. The role ensures continuity, integration and consistency of learning, assessment and student experience across multiple sites, strengthening alignment with GMC Outcomes for Graduates within a complex, multi site clinical education environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic coordination of surgery placement partnerships across T-F years, acting as the primary academic interface between City St George's and placement providers.
• Maintain and annually review the placement's content on the Virtual Learning Environment (Canvas), ensuring resources are current, aligned and accessible.
• Ensure vertical integration, curriculum continuity and consistency of student experience across sites and years.
• Support the MBBS Quality Team with placement concerns, contribute to assessment, and liaise with placement leads at partner NHS providers.

Qualifications and Experience

• Registered medical practitioner with current or very recent experience as a relevant placement lead at a partner NHS provider.
• Knowledge of surgery and the relevant specialist area, and familiarity with the City St George's MBBS curriculum.
• Experience of undergraduate teaching and coordinating teaching across multiple sites and/or years.
• Willingness to engage with the virtual learning environment and to build relationships with placement leads at partner providers.
• Teamworking, networking, delegation and project planning skills, and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
