We are currently recruiting for an experienced School Cook to join a welcoming school in Ipswich from 2nd September. This is initially a temporary position with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

As School Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for pupils and staff while leading a small team of Kitchen Assistants. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school kitchen, maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking meals in line with school requirements.
• Supervising and supporting a small team of Kitchen Assistants.
• Managing stock levels and carrying out regular stock checks.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.

Requirements

• Previous catering experience is essential.
• Experience carrying out stock checks and managing kitchen supplies.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills.
• Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service is preferred, but not essential.
